YORK

The county town of Yorkshire
The crowning jewel of York's many attractions is its magnificent gothic cathedral, the largest medieval building in England. Plus York's medieval defences are amongst the best preserved and striking in Europe, from the former keep of the castle, Clifford's Tower, to the complete city walls, which in springtime are covered with daffodils and provide an excellent route around the ancient city.

The Nave, the heart shape in the window at the end is known as 'The Heart of Yorkshire.   One of the many beautiful stained glass windows.   Cliffords Tower and I ain't walkin up all those stairs....   The Shambles, one of the many narrow streets of the city of York.    The Golden Fleece Public House. The most haunted pub in York.   Sign outside the Golden Fleece.

The Merchant Adventurers Hall.    During the floods of 2001, the water came up to the black band around the pub.

SCARBOROUGH

An east coast seaside town.
Probably the world's first seaside resort, Scarborough has attracted visitors for almost 400 years. Steeped in a thousand years of history and surrounded by beauty, from its two splendid bays, separated by the mighty castle headland, the town is reached by Victorian Cliff Lifts.
