The transition from leaving South Carolina...to my arrival at Manchester airport consisted of arranging schedules, shopping, phone calls, shopping, doctor appointments, shopping, and...the hardest part of all... finding a caretaker for my girls Chacha and Dorito.

"The Girls"
Chacha (left) was about 2yrs old and almost 11 lbs, when I left.
Dorito (right) was about 7 yrs, and a petite 7 lbs. My faithful companion.
I miss them so very much!

...the excitement was building. All preparations for my leaving were being completed. Taking a change of position at the hospital where I worked, made it easier to keep some medical insurance. I also cleared up any outstanding bills that had ocurred during my shopping trips and general household bills. Donovan, my oldest son, was living with me at the time. The plan was to leave him in charge of the house and my girls. There was an unforseen crisis that happened the week before my departure, that almost caused me a breakdown. Donovan went in hospital and was released only the day before I left. Thank God he is doing so well now...but...we had rough times ahead...

The worst part of all tho, was having to say goodbye to my grandbaby, Aspen Sage, who had become such a part of my life. He used to call me 'Tamma', because he could not pronouce the 'G'. I could never have imagined how much I was going to miss that little fella.

| I have another son. His name is Shawn. He is living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his girl, Vonnie. Unfortunately, I don't see him as often as I would like. The distance and money is the common problem. He did come up to meet Ron in September. He is a musician by heart and laborer by trade. Both my boys are very talented and I am very proud of them both. |

I was working at a large local hospital at the time of my 'great escape'. I was given a great send off from the my crew and workmates. |

Do I miss this place? |

Do I have to answer that? |

"Atlanta, Georgia"
We made it. Through rush hour traffic and road construction. Almost a three hour drive to Atlanta from Greenville. I was so excited and still could not believe it was actually happening. I called Ron from the waiting area to tell him I was on my way. Aspen, my four year old grandson, cried when I went to board the plane. "I go too, Tamma" were his parting words to me, which of course, had me crying then. Once on board, I tried to settle back. The flight was around eight hours. I would be arriving at Manchester at 9:30am. Hah...How can one sleep with a silly smile on their face?
