Queen of Scots Dressing Room    Queen of Scots Bedroom    The Alcove Bedroom    The Wellington Bedroom
These are the Queen of Scots Rooms.
This is the part of the house where Mary Queen of Scots lodged in the old Elizabethan house. There were seven rooms in all. Until 1938 they were much used as visitors' rooms. There was only one bathroom to serve them all and it was in the cupboard over the Oak Stairs.
The State Room The State Bedroom

Veiled Vestal Virgin
Veiled Vestal Virgin
by Raffaele Monti (1818-1881) Marble, 1847
This is my favorite. She is a lifesized marble sculpture. The veil over her face is so remarkably done. I thought it was carved on the underside. It is so lifelike that I wanted to touch it. I even asked Ron "how did he carve it in two layers?" ...duh!
